I Got an email from a family that got a puppy from us about a year ago named Chopper. Here are some pics of him as he has grown.

Chopper 2 months

Chopper 5 months

Chopper 7 months

Chopper 10 months
Well Duchess has done it again! We have had such a hard time with her mother Irish getting pregnant naturally, but this is the second time where Duchess has come into heat and gotten herself pregnant! She had 10 beautiful puppies on 7/25/09 and is being a great mom!
Since then we have gotten a couple of emails from people who got puppies 8 months ago. Here are a couple of pictures of "Stewie" he is 8 months and about 103 lbs. And a big spoiled baby!
Well, the first couple of puppies have left for their new homes. Here are a couple of the new family pics!

We wish all the best to our new families!
The new puppies are here! This was not our original idea, but here we are. During the summer we got a 2 year old stud named Goliath and he is a real gentle giant. We bred him to Irish 2 times naturally and one AI ... and got nothing. Around the same time Duchess our one year old came into heat. We wanted to wait another year before breeding her just to give her more time to grow and develop, but wouldn't you know it ... (let me just say it is almost imposable to stop a mastiff male when your females are in heat!!! He broke down and broke out of 3 different cage systems and tried to break down the steal door in our basement!) They tied one time and boom! 9 puppies!
She delivered on the 18th naturally and all went very well. She had 8 pups between 7:30 that morning and 2:30 in the afternoon, but we thought there was one more in there. Just minutes before midnight she delivered the last one. 5 girls and 4 boys. She has done a good job of cleaning them and nursing but she doesn't have a lot of milk so we are giving them a little bottle after they have nursed.
We went to Iowa to visit friends last weekend and back home we had a terrible storm. Goliath had spent the previous two nights out side to lighten the load of the lady who was "dog sitting". Well as soon as the storm blew up he freaked out! The chain link fence door was bent on the hinges when we got back from Goliath trying to get out, and get out he did!
He was gone for about a day, and just when we were thinking the worst, a neighbor stopped by to let us know he was at a farm about half a mile down the road. Thanks God he made it home safe and sound!
He has only been with us a short time, but he is such a great dog that we love him already! We are so glad he is home from his world tour, and I hope this is the end of it!
- Mood:
Well Goliath (the newest addition to M&D Mastiffs) is doing a little too good!
He has been PERFECT with our kids and other dogs. We have a large (8x10) dog kennel in our basement which is where he is living until his new home gets built outside, and he is perfect when we take him out. We have been very careful to have him on a lead until he really starts to think of this as home.
So you guessed it ... because I am stupid!!! Yesterday morning, right before church, I thought he is doing so well I'm just gonna let him out with the other dogs in the yard ... 60 seconds later he is trotting down the country road. So I'm chasing him in Sunday clothes down the road and the more I chased the faster he ran.
The good news is I've been wanting to start running and lose some weight, well, we went a good mile and a half before I caught him, then we got to walk home. I AM SO SORE TODAY!!! Goliath is fine and probably is still laughing at me as he tells the other mastiffs the story!
He tied with Irish last night for the first time and we are going to try again for the next few days, we'll keep you posted!
Well duchess is getting big! She is somewhere around 70 lbs. now and all puppy! She is very loving and playful and seems to be a fast learner. Irish is coming into heat again, but I think we are going to sit this one out. She is starting to fill in so nice now after the babies and so I think we will wait until next summer to breed her.
Duchess (or "Duch-Bomb" as our son calls her) is 4 months old and around 40 lbs. We are keeping her for our breeding program. She is very energetic and loving, and a fast learner. This is her Christmas card picture with Santa!
We just got more pictures of "Max" also from Chicago, and he looks great!
Somewhere between 12 and 17 weeks he went from "cutsie-puppy" to majestic!
The following is taken from an email we received from a family in Chicago who got 4 month old "Ned" from our last litter of puppies, enjoy!
Perhaps some of you have noticed the burgeoning wrinkles on my face.... this brief tale may explain where they are coming from.
While Chloe takes a bath, I take the opportunity to do housework on the 2nd floor. As I left the bathroom, all was normal and well. Chloe playing with her boat, singing a little tune. Down the hall I went to pick up toys, books, etc. Upon my return approximately 5 minutes later, I found Chloe has a guest in her bath. Ned (see photo 1).
After he was done drinking half the water, flinging hair and basically wreaking havoc in the tub, he came down the hall like a pinball - one does not have much traction with wet feet on a wood floor.
At which point he decided to get BACK in the tub and steal Chloe's lizard (see photo 3).
Also note that in all photos Chloe seems COMPLETELY unfazed. What's with that????!!!!!
At this rate, my face will resemble Khaki's by Christmas.
Cheers!
